Making Mommy Crazy---Need to Declutter, Now!

Posted by Picasa

This is our downstairs hall closet. I wanted a deep hall closet so we could put the downstairs toys in the closet when the children were not playing with them. Well, as you can see, they have overflown the closet. Not only that, my husband has over 600 DVDs. He buys them from Pawn shops for under 3 dollars. He loves all kinds of movies. My 6 yr old ds loves cars, ships, toy soldiers, etc. Time to downsize the toys.

We have been in a constant state of decluttering for 6 months. There is always more to do...LOL!
It feels great to lighten the load. Blessings, Tami

Decluttering is always a good idea. Since your children are still so young, the best way to ensure that you do not have to declutter their toys as often is to be selective about how many toys you allow into your home in the first place.

As for your husband's dvd collection - my friend has a 400 dvd changer which, until she showed it to me a few weeks ago, I didn't even know such a thing exsited.

They took all of their dvd's and put them into the changer. Each dvd goes into a numbered slot.

Then they took all of the paper covers out of the dvd cases and put each one into a plastic sleeve in a three ring binder. They wrote the number of the dvd on the plastic sleeve. Then they threw away all of the cases.

Now, whenever they want to watch a movie they simply flip through their binder, choose their movie and use the remote that came with the dvd player to select the corresponding number. The movie automatically starts playing.

Getting all of those dvd's out of your designated toy closet sure would save a lot of space!
